Abstract

This project aims at providing Open Access to the Brill-Leiden published journal "African Diaspora A Journal of Transnational Africa in a Global World" (ISSN Print 1872-5457 / ISSN Online 1872-5465). This journal is focusing on the multidisciplinary study of diasporas from, to and within Africa. It has a strong Humanities' focus in terms of the issues it is addressing and the fields of expertise and exchange it intends to foster. African Diaspora was started two years ago (2008). The interest in the topic is large, the number of submissions is growing and it is the perfect example of a journal that could profit from open access, especially in Africa and developing countries where access is otherwise limited. It will also be easier to attract submissions from developing countries, and as such the journal will play a role in building academic expertise in such countries where the issue of diasporas is of great importance.
