Abstract
Phonological and phonetic intonation features of five indigenous dialects of Dutch, one immigrant variety of Dutch and of standard Dutch will be compared amongst each other with the aim to develop a subtypology for these varieties and thus contribute to a general prosodic typology. In addition, comparisons between L1 non-standard and L2 standard Dutch pronunciations of metrical and intonational structures by typologically diverse groups of speakers will form the basis of a classification of transfer patterns in word and sentence prosody.
